Ride Through Colombia’s Coffee Heartland
Nestled between the central and western branches of the Andes and nourished by the Cauca River, Colombia’s coffee region is a place where tradition, culture, and breathtaking landscapes come together. Rolling plantations stretch across sun-drenched mountains, charming towns burst with vibrant colors, and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee lingers in the air—this is the essence of Colombia’s coffee country.
On this unforgettable cycling tour, you’ll be immersed in the region’s hypnotic beauty. Ride through emerald-green fields, past colonial villages, and under skies painted in shades of gold, violet, and indigo. Here, the phrase Carpe Diem takes on new meaning—this is a place where seizing the moment isn’t just an idea, but a way of life.
The ride itself is an artful balance of Colombia’s legendary cycling routes and moments of relaxed exploration. Just when you think you’ve experienced it all, another wonder awaits—a historic hacienda, its doors open in welcome. The scent of wood and coffee fills the air, the golden afternoon light drapes the hills, and warm-hearted locals greet you with a smile.
This is more than a bike tour. It’s a journey of the senses, a ride through a land where passion, tradition, and adventure come together in perfect harmony.
Throughout the journey, we’ll stay in carefully selected locations that enhance your experience and immerse you in Colombia’s rich culture. Our accommodations range from beautifully restored coffee haciendas, where history and elegance blend seamlessly, to boutique inns tucked away in the forest. On occasion, we may stay in simpler lodgings—always clean, comfortable, and full of small-town charm. No matter where you rest your head, each stay is chosen to add something special to your adventure.
We encourage guests to bring their own bicycles and recommend having them serviced by a mechanic before the trip to ensure they’re in top condition. If you bring your own bike, consider packing any essential replacement parts you might need while traveling.
For those who prefer to rent, we offer high-performance Argon 18 Krypton road bikes, ensuring a smooth and responsive ride. Please bring your helmet, gloves, and full riding gear. If renting, a helmet will be provided, but you’ll need to bring your own shoes. If you use clipless pedals, don’t forget to pack them, along with a mount for your cycling computer if you plan to track your rides.
Our support vehicles are an essential part of the experience, carrying snacks, drinks, and gear so you can ride unburdened. They’re also there whenever you need a break. One vehicle is equipped with a high-end bike carrier to ensure safe transport of all bicycles.
To keep things simple and efficient, we recommend bringing one main piece of luggage plus a small day bag. Your day bag will be easily accessible in the main cabin, while your larger bag will be securely stored.
Colombia enjoys a mild, cycling-friendly climate year-round, but mountain weather can be unpredictable. Expect temperatures ranging from 9°C - 30°C (48°F - 86°F), with occasional rain showers. Packing for a variety of conditions will ensure you’re ready for anything the road brings.
This cycling adventure is designed for those who love a mix of challenging climbs and rewarding descents. As you wind through Colombia’s breathtaking coffee region, you’ll experience epic mountain roads, sweeping valley views, and the exhilaration of conquering high-altitude passes. Whether you're here for the ride, the scenery, or the culture, every pedal stroke brings you deeper into the heart of this extraordinary landscape.
Colombia checks every box for an unforgettable cycling experience. Look up from your handlebars, and the world unfolds before you—mountains beyond mountains, stretching endlessly into the horizon. The closest peaks feel immense, almost humbling in their grandeur, while the distant ridgelines spark curiosity, inviting you to wonder what lies beyond. Your senses are alive, trying to absorb it all, knowing that if you look away for even a moment, you might miss something extraordinary.
Along the way, you meet the locals. They smile, welcoming you with a warmth that needs no translation. Their eyes convey their pride, their happiness that you’ve come to explore their homeland. You smile back, sharing a silent connection.
At a planned stop, a glass of freshly squeezed fruit juice awaits, handed to you with a kind, radiant smile. The contrast of white teeth against sun-kissed skin, the crisp mountain air, the scent of fresh coffee drifting nearby—it all fills you with pure joy.
This is what cycling in Colombia feels like. It’s not just a ride—it’s an experience that stays with you long after the last climb, the last descent, the last smile exchanged on the road.

Upon arrival at Pereira Airport, we’ll pick you up and transfer you to your hotel, just a 20-minute drive away. Our first stop will be a beautiful farm nestled in the heart of the coffee plantations, offering stunning views of the valley below. It’s here that we’ll greet you and begin our journey.
As the day winds down, we’ll catch our first glimpse of the breathtaking sunsets that paint the sky in vibrant colors, while the fresh aroma of the land fills the air. In the evening, we’ll gather to discuss the upcoming days and provide an overview of the route.
This journey begins with a stage through the plains, located between the central and western Cordillera mountain ranges. It’s a perfect start to what will be a progressively challenging route, immersing you in the beauty and serenity of Colombia’s coffee heartland.
Our first ride will awaken all your senses, with the fresh scent of tropical land greeting you as a sign of the wonderful experiences ahead. We’ll begin the day with a gentle descent, guiding us through the landscape toward the town of Montenegro. Nestled in the valley between two major mountain ranges, this area features rolling hills, with a small challenge midway—just enough to engage your legs and prepare you for the more demanding stages to come.
The weather will be warm and pleasant throughout the ride, offering perfect conditions for cycling. By early afternoon, we’ll arrive in the town of La Virginia, where we’ll spend the rest of the afternoon soaking in the local charm.

The day’s ride will offer a stark contrast to our first, with more climbing ahead. The landscape becomes increasingly dramatic, flanked by towering mountains and sprawling valleys. You’ll experience swift descents that take you alongside coffee plantations, with sweeping views of the mountains in the distance. Charming houses, painted in bright colors, stand out against the varying shades of green in the landscape, adding to the picturesque beauty of the region.
While the first few days follow a well-defined route, today's stage brings together the best elements of the previous days with a personal twist. We’ll begin by heading toward our destination: Filandia, which we believe is one of the most vibrant towns in the entire coffee region. The facades of its townhouses are a riot of color, and the lively town square is a fantastic place to explore.
But Filandia offers more than just beauty—it offers breathtaking views. The town sits high above the valley, providing a privileged vantage point for a sunset you’ll remember forever. We’ll earn that view with a climb that, though sometimes challenging, rewards us with stunning panoramas as we ascend.
The approach to Filandia is through rolling hills, with rivers at the base of each one, bordered by small bamboo forests. These bamboo tunnels create a serene, green corridor to cycle through, adding a special touch to the ride.

It’s time to finish in spectacular fashion. As we approach Filandia, the mountains ahead begin to take on a deeper shade of green—an unmistakable sign that we’re nearing higher elevations. We like to think of it as the hushed whisper of someone on the verge of revealing a secret, inviting us into the most beautiful part of the journey.
This stage offers the perfect conclusion, with the landscapes growing even more breathtaking as we ascend toward the high Andes, where the scenery becomes a symphony of nature's finest colors and textures.
